Behind the children’s section at the Tuscaloosa Public Library (TPL), a room called the Story Castle, once home to regular storytimes for children, is now the three-day resting place of the library’s returned items.

TUSCALOOSA LOCALS PROFILE THE STRIP IN NEW DOCUMENTARY

In 1865, with Confederate troops having deserted the University of Alabama campus, the Union Army set the place ablaze. That was more than 150 years ago, but Taylor Watson feels like that’s about as long as he’s been in Tuscaloosa. 

“The Yankees had just left when we got here,” Watson said.

ALABAMA HEALTH CARE FAILS TRANSGENDER STUDENTS

Cameron McCall isn’t much of a football fan, which is probably for the best, since she had to miss out on the Alabama vs. Citadel game a couple weeks ago. Instead of hiking up the spiral at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the junior majoring in biology was making a more than three-hour drive to Nashville, Tennessee to see her doctor.
